Missions Moment: Corps Leader Training, Mali

Missions Moment

Title: Corps Leader Training, Mali Region

Topic: World Services Project

Description:

Salvation Army Soap Making Project in Mali
Salvation Army Soap Making Project in Mali

The Salvation Army has been officially registered in Mali  since November 2007.  The Army is spreading consistently in this Muslim-dominated society, including expanding its ministry to the neighboring country of Burkina Faso.

With only 6 Salvation Army officers in the Mali Region, they heavily rely on lay corps leaders to engage in ministry and advance the mission of The Salvation Army.  One of the challenges that they are facing, is that many of these new lay leaders lack sufficient training to effectively carry out their responsibilities.

The USA Central Territory recently partnered with the Mali Region in a project which will provide financial resources to allow for the training of twelve lay leaders.  These individuals will be trained in the following areas:

-Salvation Army doctrines
-Bible
-Important corps books and how to keep records
-History of The Salvation Army
-Preparation for soldiership
-Local officers
-Preaching
-Leadership of meetings
-Visitations
-Corps finances
-Sunday School
-Youth
-Women’s Ministry
-Managing members of the corps

We thank God for our fellow brothers and sisters in the Mali Region and the opportunity to partner with them.  We pray that God will continue to rise up and equip Salvation Army leaders in this region.
