Frequently Asked Questions

Can I sponsor an individual child?

In order to provide equal support, benefits and opportunity for ALL children involved in The Salvation Army’s Sponsorship program, the USA Central Territory only offers sponsorship in the form of discretionary (group) sponsorship for an entire home, school or center.  This form of sponsorship benefits all the children involved and ensures equal opportunity and creates self-worth.

How much does it cost?

Each member of the Sponsorship Program commits to giving $300 a year to a their overseas home, school, or center.  This gift provides food, supplies, education, and facility utilities associated with the care of one child.  You may make payments in whatever form is most convenient for you: monthly, bi-monthly, quarterly, semi-annual or annual.  See the side bar to the right to make a payment now.

What will I know about the home I sponsor?

You will receive a biography and photo about the home, school, or center that you sponsor.  Updates and newsletters from the institution come on an infrequent basis, but you should receive a report at least once a year.

How long is a Sponsorship commitment?

Sponsors are asked to make a minimum commitment of one year, but you can choose to continue making a difference by renewing your sponsorship commitment for many years.

What happens if my financial circumstances change or I cannot make a payment?

If needed, you  may hold or cancel your sponsorship.  Short-term sponsorships are acceptable, and you may also choose to give one-time gift or give a gift through our Love In Action campaign.

What if I forget a payment?

Not to worry!  You can also contact us (see right side bar) to receive a coupon reminder book or to sign up for a monthly, quarterly, semi-annual or annual email reminder.

Who chooses the Sponsorship location?

You may indicate a specific institution or even a region that you are interested it.  You may also feel free to contact us.
