Missions Moment: Cadet Training, Mali

<![CDATA[
Missions Moment
Title: Cadet Training for Four Candidates, Mali Region
Topic: World Services Project
Description:
In the country of Mali, people make an average of US$1.50 per day with nearly one-third of the population working in the highly vulnerable cotton industry. Literacy rates are low and about one-fifth of children will not survive to age five. Christian make up less than 3% of the population.*
The Salvation Army has been officially registered in Mali since November 2007. Winning souls for Christ has been a challenge in this Muslim-dominated society, however the Army’s work is expanding and there is a need for trained leaders.
The USA Central Territory recently partnered with the Mali Region in a project which will provide financial resources for the training of four candidates. These individuals, two married couples, have applied for officership and will begin their cadet training in November 2015. Because the Army in Mali is emerging, the cadets will attend training in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo. Following their commissioning in July 2017, these four individuals will return to Mali to serve as officers.
We thank God for the faithfulness of our Christian brothers and sisters in the Mali Region and pray God’s blessing on the work in this country.
