Tabatha Anderson, a soldier of the Oakbrook Terrace Corps, has always enjoyed making things and tinkering. She explains, “During the past couple of years, the act of creating has been my favorite form of worship. It helps me center and find God’s peace and joy and it helps me feel close to God.” When she started her current job at the Barrington Area Library, she was trained to use a laser cutter for programs. She got permission to use the laser cutter in her personal time, with the intent of creating unique Christmas gifts for family and friends. But she had so much fun designing and creating that she decided to open an Etsy shop, Simply Anderson.
From building a house for a family in Juarez, Mexico to serving at a Native American Reservation in Minnesota to leading a Summer Mission Team in Germany and Poland, Tabatha has participated in many missions experiences both within The Salvation Army and with outside organizations. She explains, “The lessons God had taught me through global missions have been life-changing. Supporting Global Missions is like saying thank you to the people who inspired me and giving a hug to the friends I miss. Now that the globe earrings are up for sale, I feel like this shop is combining two things I really enjoy, creating things and helping people. Also, a World Missions Jewelry line is coming soon, including globe cuff links and necklaces!”
