Scripture: John 15:1-11, 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, Philippians 1:1-6

As a child perhaps you sang the song “I’ve got the joy, joy, joy, joy down in my heart.”  But what does it really mean to have a heart filled with joy?

Read John 15:1-11

What does the Gardener do, according to verses 2?
What must we do to have complete joy in our lives?
How do we show that we are disciples of Jesus?

A life celebrated in Christ will bear fruit for the Kingdom!

According to 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, when should we be joyful?

True joy is not affected by circumstances or success. Rather, it is a deep state of contentment, confidence and hope.  Joyful people take pleasure in God, His Word, His people, His work, and His creation.

Discuss some of the ways your team has experienced joy through partnership in the gospel.

Journal

How do you celebrate life and take pleasure in God, His Word, His people, His work, and His creation?  Do you have true joy?  If not, reflect on Psalm 51:10-12 and ask the Lord to restore the joy of salvation in your life.
