The Creative Arts Service Team, or CAST, hit the ground running the moment we returned to THQ from Commissioning weekend. While the other teams were preparing to depart for their location, CAST began rehearsing immediately. We have been working on a choreo-drama titled “Jesus Theatre: Balloons.” It shows a creative and fun view of the gospel and the power of God’s love through acting and dancing. The second show we have been working on will show a variety of our team’s artistic and musical talents and different ways to praise the Lord. Our program is called ‘The Kingdom of God is… “ We want to show what the Kingdom of God is and who is welcome there. Here’s a hint- the kingdom of God is for everybody! The rehearsals were quite long, and we’ve had to memorize dozens of scripts and dances just to be ready. Since our rehearsal space is at THQ, several employees and officers have stopped in during our rehearsal period. One afternoon, Erin Burgmayer came in and helped us with our Jesus Theatre show. Erin was part of the original show and she gave us several helpful pointers on how to improve our craft. We are very grateful that she joined us.
CAST is quite a diverse group. We come from all over the Central territory- Minnesota, Kansas, Michigan, Missouri, Illinois, and one of us is even from the Philippines! We also range in age from 18-24; we all have different experiences with sharing God’s word. Since we’ve been staying in Hoffman Estates for the week, we decided to cook our own meals for ourselves. This past week we’ve been able to share our favorite meals with our teammates, such as enchiladas, lumpias and mac-n-cheese. Who says millennials don’t know how to cook?
Being in Chicago, we were able to spend an evening with members of the Bill Booth Theatre Company. It was very cool to be able to fellowship with people who spreads God’s word and love through the arts as well.
This week we still have some final touches for our show, but we are ready to go! We will be leaving Wednesday in the afternoon and traveling to Army Lake Camp, Minneapolis Temple, and Northern Division Music Camp. We are so excited to get out and show what we’ve been rehearsing for the entire week. Of course when we preform, it’s not for our own glory, It’s for God’s glory.
Please keep our team in your prayers as we begin to travel around the territory to share the gospel through the creative arts.
