Bahamas! What an incredible place to experience God’s beautiful creation & his beautiful people.
On Saturday we were joined by 5 additional team member, Viki Payton, Stephen Richardson, Megan and Justin Johnson and Capt. Jamie Winkler. After a brief moment of meeting each other we headed to the airport to start our travel to the Bahamas. As we arrived on the island we were greeted by CSM Joseph Deal and fellow soldiers at the corps.
We began our busy week of VBS at the Palmetto Point Corps where we split the kids up into 4 groups. Team Fire led by Aika and Lucas, Team Lightning led by Stephen and Eri, Team Water led by Megan and Shannon and Team Earth led by Carlos and Capt. Jamie. The opening & closing were done by the very energetic Justin & Viki. It was so easy to love those kids who’s ages varied from 3-15.
We focused on God’s heroes with our Bible lessons, crafts, games, dance time and sang a lot about potato chips, pizza man & superheroes.
On Tuesday & Thursday we took a field trip to the beach and had a blast with the kids. Friday we had a lovely Bahamian dinner with our hosts and enjoyed all the conversation around the table.
So many amazing things took place with the kids, within our team and at the corps. We felt so welcomed to the island by not just the corps members but the whole community. We joined in their Independence Day celebrations and saw their love for their country & for the Lord.
