Philippians 1:3-6
3 I thank my God every time I remember you. 4 In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy 5 because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, 6 being c
onfident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.
Although there are many scripture verses that we could turn to regarding the value of and biblical background for partnership, this is, by far, a favorite. Paul knew how to cultivate partnership in ministry. In our territory, we value The Salvation Army’s Partners in Mission program. I believe we can take away three things from Paul’s example of partnership as we look at out 5 PIM territories: Caribbean, Congo (Brazzaville), India South Eastern, Kenya East, and Sri Lanka.
-
- We thank God for our partners! Acknowledge how God is using our brothers and sisters around the world to reach their communities, offering a helping hand and drawing others into a relationship with Christ. We have so much to learn from them, their faithfulness and zeal in ministry.
- We pray for them with joy! And joyfully, we seek ways to build up our partnership in the gospel. It is an honor and privilege to partner with them through prayer. We connect with them on social media, learn about The Army in their context through our World Services resources, visit them with our short term teams, and arrange for them to visit us so we can connect in person. There’s so much we can do to foster our partnership in the gospel!
- We trust the Lord to carry on to completion the good work He already began in all of us. We present our partners’ needs and requests to our Father, in faith believing the Lord is always on our side and waiting to answer our prayers.
If you would like to pray for our Partners in Mission, you can use this PIM Prayer Circle document that gives us information and prayer topics for all of the territories in our partnership circle. Join us in “partnering globally for the sake of the gospel.”
