Throughout all three summers, God confirmed His calling in my life that eventually led me to where I am today:
While serving on The Central One Team, we traveled throughout the Central Territory to a variety of different corps and summer camps. This summer, God confirmed my calling to be involved in mission work-all my life. That “mission” doesn’t only look like a global excursion, but “mission,” is also sharing the love of Christ in your backyard, neighborhood, city, your own country. God reminded me that there were people right in front of me who were broken and needed to experiences the love of Christ.
Summer 2009, I had the wonderful opportunity to go to a small country in Eastern Europe, Moldova. During my amazing summer in Moldova, most of our activities involved youth. Through those experiences, I felt that God was calling me to full time ministry, but I wasn’t quite ready to fully commit to Officership and I knew that I always had a passion, which was confirmed while in Moldova, for youth work. That summer, I was responded to God’s call and was accepted into The Salvation Army’s Railton School for Youth Work.
Summer 2011, I had already applied and had been accepted into The Salvation Army’s College for Officer’s Training, but God was continuing to confirm His calling in my life through the friendships that were created in India and through the exposure of the larger Army. India reminded me of the honor that it is to be a woman and to be called & equipped to serve in His Kingdom, His Church, specifically, The Salvation Army.
It’s amazing to look back now and see God’s perfect plan unfold for my life through Summer Mission Team. Summer 2008, 2009, 2011 will always hold a special place in my memories- it was a time of growth both spiritually and in my maturity, a time of affirmation, a time of conviction & for sure, a time of fun! I am so grateful for the opportunities offered to me through The Summer Mission Team. Today, I am able to proudly say that I am continuing to live out the calling God had shouted out to me those three summers.
