The team had an amazing opportunity to spend a week at Eastern Michigan’s Divisional music camp. Two of our team members, Nikki and Erin, assisted with a mass choir called Camp Chorus, under the direction of special guest Aaron Harris. Sandy co-led the very first Drama major track and assisted with the camp’s Jesus Theater “The Wordless Book,” while Amanda co-led the very first Dance major track that the camp had ever had. During elective time, Amanda assisted in Dance, Nikki assisted in Volleyball, and Erin assisted in Arts and Crafts. All four girls where a part of the first ever faculty choir, also under the direction of Aaron Harris.
CAST performed two pieces, “Erica Loses It All”, a piece that teaches that no matter what happens you can always praise God. The other piece was “Listening to God” which shows how even in our crazy and busy lives, God is always there. While there, the team had a moment to learn and take advice from special guest Kellyn Thornburg, a beautiful dancer from New York, who quickly became an honorary member of CAST. Kellyn assisted the team with making their movement pieces more tight and over all just being someone to look up to. The team was able to grow closer relationships with not only with the campers but with staff as well. “After a whole week of dancing together, the girls in that room became a small family, and I’m just happy I was able to be a part of that”, said Amanda after being asked about her week. Over the course of this week the girls were able to come together and learn more about each other, growing not only in their strengths but as well as their weaknesses.
Please pray for our team as we make our way back to Western Michigan/Northern Indiana’s Division and travel back and forth between Little Pine Island Camp and surrounding corps to join them during their Sunday morning meetings and attend day camps for the next week.
