Missions Moment
Title: Maintenance & Land Purchasing in the India South Eastern Territory
Topic: World Services Project
Description:
The Salvation Army in steadily growing in the India South Eastern (ISE) Territory, one of our partners in mission locations. In their 318 corps they have over 51,000 soldiers, compared with 16,000 soldiers in 257 corps in the USA Central Territory. While the number of soldiers in the ISE Territory continues to increase, they are outgrowing their corps buildings, commonly known as prayer halls.
The USA Central Territory recently partnered with the ISE Territory in a project allowing for building maintenance and land purchase. Through this project, land was secured for the construction of four new prayer halls and necessary maintenance will be able to be completed on Salvation Army quarters and prayer halls in six other locations. The USA Central Territory contributed $54,545 toward this project and the ISE officers and soldiers provided a local contribution of $5,818. The local contribution is especially remarkable considering that the yearly median household income in India is $1,250, compared with a yearly median household income in the US of $53,657.
We thank God for the faithfulness of our Christian brothers and sisters in the India South Eastern Territory and pray God’s blessing on these new and repaired prayer halls.
