Qualifications for Applicants:
- 18-29 years old
- Live out a personal faith in Jesus Christ, demonstrate love for God, and show compassion for others.
- Proven leadership ability
- Heart for Evangelism and knowledge of the Bible
- Emotional and spiritual maturity
- Tolerant personality / Even temperament
- Desire to learn / Teachability
- Friendliness / Approachability
- Strong work ethic
- Hands-on ministry and service experience
- Previous missions experience preferred
- Applicants need to fulfill the qualifications of column A OR must fulfill 1 qualification from BOTH column B and column C.
Important Dates:
-Application Deadline: January 6, 2025
-SMT Orientation: February 14-17, 2025 (Applicants selected for SMT will attend Regeneration as delegates and stay at the venue through February 17 for SMT team-building and orientation.)
-Summer Ministry including pre-field training, Belonging Conference/Congress 2025, on-field time, debriefing, and CBLI: May 29-July 27, 2025
Additional Information:
SMT is a Leadership and Discipleship program for young adults in the USA Central Territory. Through this 8 week program, team members will learn to become cultural learners, practice partnership and engage in matters of justice.
Every participant will need to raise $800 for program costs. A non-refundable $150 deposit will be due on February 14. The remainder will be due at the end of May.
If chosen to minister on an SMT you may be eligible to receive a $3,000 educational scholarship from The Salvation Army upon satisfactorily completing the ministry assignment.

Applicants who are selected for Summer Mission Team 2025 will be required to attend the Regeneration Young Adult Conference at Camp Mihaska in Bourbon, Missouri beginning February 14, 2025. Summer Mission Team members will remain at Camp Mihaska through February 17 for Summer Mission Team orientation. Additional information about Regeneration registration and transportation will be communicated directly to Summer Mission Team applicants.
Summer Mission Team members will attend the Belonging Conference and Congress 2025. Summer Mission Team will arrange and pay for your registration and lodging for these events. We know that some SMT members may be involved in other ministry groups or have other responsibilities during the Conference or Congress. We will coordinate schedule and responsibilities as needed! If you are applying for SMT and already know you will have other specific responsibilities during these events, please send an email to [email protected] to share this information.
We are happy to share that this year all SMT members will attend CBLI as delegates in the Young Adult track! Summer Mission Team will conclude on the final day of CBLI, July 27.
