SMT Denmark – Update #1

Since arriving here in Denmark we have been busy at work for the Lord’s glory. We arrived in Copenhagen on Monday night, and were picked up by Major Anne from THQ and Nathalie, a member of the Valby Corps. We spent one night in the Valby corps.

Tuesday consisted of having brunch and going over plans for what we would be doing in the coming weeks. We then took a train to our next location, the Vejle Salvation Army where we met the corps officers Lt. Jan and Carolyn Rasmussen and Lt. Joséphine Münch.

On Wednesday we made an American breakfast for the people in the surrounding community of Vejle. The menu included scrambled eggs, hash browns, pancakes and french toast. All of the food was a big hit! We also started doing an extreme makeover of the youth room at the corps building that would be opening the following Friday. Then we evangelized in the town square by singing songs and dancing. That night we went to visit a corps member for dessert.

On Thursday we worked on the youth room most of the day and finished off the day with a barbeque at the home of Lt. Rasmussen.

The youth room was opened on Friday night! It started off with a soccer tournament, dancing and face paint at a nearby park. Then we all came back to the corps to enjoy slush ice, waffles, and candy. It was great to get to meet and see some of the youth in the Vejle community! We also came together on Friday night to have a prayer meeting and sang together, and the spirit of God was there and He was glorified. This day we also were able to see Daniel and Sabine who served on Summer Mission Team Central team last year!

Saturday was spent learning how to be better leaders for Jesus and preparing people for a children’s camp that will happen 2 weeks from now! While we were in Vejle we also built some relationships with a few young adults from the corps and are also looking forward to ministering with them at camp in a few weeks!

We have all enjoyed our time here and have built lasting relationships with everyone we have met. A few prayer requests from our locations are for more youth to attend the corps in all of Denmark, and for a new building for the Sønderborg corps. We are looking forward to the coming weeks here in Denmark!

Love,
Team Denmark
