Qualifications for Applicants:

  • 18-29 years old
  • Live out a personal faith in Jesus Christ, demonstrate love for God, and show compassion for others.
  • Proven leadership ability
  • Heart for Evangelism and knowledge of the Bible
  • Emotional and spiritual maturity
  • Tolerant personality / Even temperament
  • Desire to learn / Teachability
  • Friendliness / Approachability
  • Strong work ethic
  • Hands-on ministry and service experience
  • Previous missions experience preferred
  • Applicants need to fulfill the qualifications of column A OR must fulfill 1 qualification from BOTH column B and column C.

Important Dates:

-Application Deadline: January 5, 2026

-SMT Orientation: February 13-16, 2026 (Applicants selected for SMT will attend Regeneration as delegates and stay through February 16 for SMT team-building and orientation.)

-Summer Ministry including pre-field training, Commissioning, on-field time, debriefing, and CBLI: June 8-July 26, 2025

What is SMT?

SMT is a Leadership and Discipleship program for young adults in the USA Central Territory. Through this 8 week program, team members will learn to become cultural learners, practice partnership and engage in matters of justice.

Summer Mission Team partners in Salvation Army ministry outside of the U.S. This team could be involved in a program ministry or light project work. Together with local Salvationists, the team will serve in the specific ministry needs that are identified by the hosts.
 

Personal Contribution

Every participant will need to raise $800 for program costs. A non-refundable $150 deposit will be due on February 13. The remainder will be due at the end of May.

SMT Education Scholarship

If chosen to minister on an SMT you may be eligible to receive a $3,000 educational scholarship from The Salvation Army upon satisfactorily completing the ministry assignment.

Regeneration

Applicants who are selected for Summer Mission Team 2026 will be required to attend the Regeneration Young Adult Conference at Wonderland Camp and Conference Center in Salem Lakes, WI beginning February 13, 2026. Summer Mission Team members will stay through February 16 for Summer Mission Team orientation. Additional information about Regeneration registration and transportation will be communicated directly to Summer Mission Team applicants.

CBLI

We are happy to share that this year all SMT members will attend CBLI as delegates in the Young Adult track! Summer Mission Team will conclude on the final day of CBLI, July 26.

Health

Some assignments may require vaccinations for disease including the COVID-19 vaccine.
