The Rwanda & Burundi Command of The Salvation Army has 7 preschools participating in the Sponsorship Program – all of these schools provide food, activity, education, love and biblical teaching. A few of these 7 preschools care for and educate over 100 children! The preschool age is 5-7 years old and most of these preschools also care for the “babies” ages 3-4 years old.
The Salvation Army preschools in these communities are many times, the first preschool in their history. In addition to uniform expenses, it costs a Rwandan family anywhere from US$0.41-US$1.70 to send their child to school for one month. This may seem like a low cost, but for families affected by poverty, genocide, and war it is a high price to pay.
